This is the door that is open to everyone. The exams sit behind the Claude Partner Network, but the courses are public, and passing the final quiz earns a certificate of completion you can share. It also doubles as the prep for all three exams.

Take it if

You build on Claude, or you want the exam prep without paying for anything yet.

Skip it if

You need a proctored credential for a client or employer. A completion certificate proves you finished a course and passed a quiz, nothing more.

Before you start

Check yourself against this list first. If something is missing, close that gap before you pay for an exam.

What the course covers

  • Building with the Claude API (9 hours)
  • Claude Code in Action (1 hour)
  • Introduction to Model Context Protocol (1 hour)

  • Claude with Amazon Bedrock (8 hours)
  • Claude on Google Cloud (8.5 hours)

What to focus on

  • Start with Building with the Claude API. It covers prompting, tool use, RAG, agents, MCP and production patterns in one run.
  • Take the Bedrock or Google Cloud course only if that is where you deploy. They overlap heavily with the API course.
  • Do the MCP course with a keyboard. It has you build a server and a client from scratch in Python.

Study plan

  1. Week 1: the API

    Work through Building with the Claude API and keep a small repo of what you build.

  2. Week 2: Claude Code and MCP

    Finish Claude Code in Action, Introduction to Model Context Protocol, agent skills and subagents.

  3. Week 3: apply it

    Add one MCP server and one agent loop to a real side project, then decide whether the exam is worth it for you.

Good to know

  • Anthropic says Academy courses end in a quiz and passing earns the certificate, but the agent skills and subagents listings show no quiz. Check each course page before you count on a certificate.
